SIP as a Standard?

SIP is a standard? We would like to think so. However, the RFCs which define SIP allow for
interpretation by manufacturers of PBX’s. Consequently, it is imperative for SIP Trunking providers
to certify the interoperability of various call scenarios with individual models of PBX and gain approval
from manufacturers. Although an expensive proposition at times, in the long run, it actually saves everyone involved time and money when issues arise. By setting a baseline configuration for successful completion of a variety of calling scenarios, Channel Partners are equipped with the blueprint to replicate solutions which meet their customers’ needs.

Why invest to ensure interoperability with multiple PBX vendors?
Because when an issue does arise, the Channel Partner, PSTN provider and Manufacturer can systematically determine the root cause to effect changes to resolve the customer’s problem. This is
